Volunteer spotlight: Jahna and Eno
Grade 9 student Jahna and Grade 10 student Eno see volunteering at the Canada Science and Technology Museum as great way – and a fun way – to give back to a place that shaped their own childhoods.
As Jahna explains, “when I was a kid I used to come here with Eno, and we loved it because of all the experiences and we learned a lot of things. To this day, we still love the place.”
They volunteer mainly with the museum’s new Exploratek maker studio and the Zooom children’s gallery. As Eno explains, “it’s different from other volunteer jobs – it’s much more hands-on, and you get to work with kids and help them with fun problem-solving activities.”
What began as a way to complete their required community involvement for school has become so much more. Even though Jahna has already finished her necessary hours and Eno will soon finish hers, they are excited to continue on as museum volunteers making a difference for their community.
